About The Position

Development of CAE simulations for seating products within budget in accordance with FAA, customer and ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions standards.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Mechanical/Civil/Aerospace Engineering or related scientific field, or equivalent experience.
  • Over four (4) years’ experience using relevant CAE software systems
  • Over two (2) years industry experience in engineering field, preferably dealing with aircraft seating products.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge of engineering principles, classical stress analysis techniques and analytical substantiation methods.
  • Must possess proficiency with personal computer systems with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD 2000 and/or SolidWorks.
  • Must possess good oral, written, and organizational skills, and be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Proficiency with performing stress analysis on aircraft seating products using LS-Dyna and Altair Hyperworks, experience with NASTRAN and RADIOSS preferred.
  • Experience with Hybrid II, Hybrid III ATDs used in crash analysis along with seatbelt modeling is preferred
  • Knowledge of optimization and stochastic tools is preferred
  • Knowledge of modeling and analysis of composites and plastic materials is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform CAE simulations using LS Dyna for static and dynamic load cases to meet 14 CFR Part 25.561 and Part 25.562 requirements for development of new products
  • Work collaboratively with the design, certification, and test team members to analyze, optimize components and assembly models to meet weight, cost and quality objectives
  • Work collaboratively with product development and external suppliers to build CAE models, perform analysis, and achieve optimized design solution to meet weight, cost and quality objectives
  • Support the certification and test team, participate in post-test inspections, interpret test results and correlate the CAE results to tests
  • Create detailed reports of analysis as needed to document the project status
  • Follow internal best practices and support research and improve standard operating procedures where applicable
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced environment by providing timely communications and status of the project
  • Serve as the primary focal point regarding structural substantiation issues
  • Provide input and suggestions for continuous improvement of various department procedures, controls, flows and systems, and become familiar with ZIM’s internal policies and procedures
  • Develop expertise on aircraft seats design concepts, industry design standards and CFR’s consistent with ZIM’s workload environment
  • Must be able to work assigned schedule with minimal absences
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
