About The Position

Leidos’ Defense Systems is seeking a Stress Analyst to join their team in Huntsville, Alabama. This role involves designing and analyzing the next generation of defense systems. The Stress Analyst will perform stress analysis to support the design of cutting-edge aerospace and defense programs, collaborate with designers using FEMAP daily, and potentially work with production and testing teams. This position is part of a team of talented engineers working on fast-paced programs with unique technical challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 2-4 years of relevant industry experience with a BS degree or 0-2 years with an MS degree.
  • Demonstrated experience with any of the commercial finite element analysis tools (e.g. FEMAP/NX NASTRAN, PATRAN/MSC NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.).
  • Strong technical writing, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Capable of working as part of a larger analysis team or working as the sole analyst on a project.
  • U.S. citizenship and a current Final Secret Clearance—or eligibility to obtain and maintain one.
  • Residence in, or willingness to relocate to, the Huntsville, Alabama area.

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with a 3.5 or higher GPA.

Responsibilities

  • Apply analytical methods, finite element models, simulations, and other engineering tools to develop models, perform structural and dynamic analyses, conduct calculations, reduce test data, and correlate results.
  • Partner closely with design and manufacturing teams to deliver high-performance structures that meet demanding requirements for performance, manufacturability, and schedule.
