About The Position

Space is a critical domain, connecting our technologies, our security and our humanity. While others view space as a destination, we see it as a realm of possibilities, where we can do more — we can innovate, invest, inspire and integrate our capabilities to transform the future. At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve. We’re creating future-ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security® vision. We’re erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries and around the world. We’re advancing spacecraft and the workforce to fuel the next generation. And we’re reimagining how space can connect us, ensuring security and prosperity. Join us in shaping a new era in space and find a career that's built for you. The Stress Analysis Engineer will own moderate‑to‑complex structural‑analysis work‑packages. The role bridges detailed finite‑element modeling with design‑review participation, ensuring that stress analysis meets program performance, reliability, and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience in Advanced Stress Analysis
  • Lead static, dynamic, and fatigue analyses using linear and non linear solutions in Siemens NX or equivalent
  • Experience participating in multidisciplinary design reviews
  • Must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a structural‑analysis‑focused discipline.
  • Experience with composite‑material modeling and laminate theory.
  • Exposure to aerospace programs such as aircraft, UAV, missile, or space platforms.
  • Knowledge of model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) tools (SysML, Cameo).

Responsibilities

  • Lead static, dynamic, and fatigue analyses using linear and non linear solutions in Siemens NX.
  • Develop and validate high‑fidelity FEMs (meshing strategy, material definition, boundary conditions).
  • Perform load‑case generation and factor‑of‑safety assessment for critical structures
  • Translate system‑level requirements into detailed stress‑analysis specifications.
  • Provide design‑size recommendations, reinforcement concepts, and material substitutions to meet weight‑strength targets.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary trade studies (structure‑thermal, structure‑propulsion, etc.).
  • Define test‑article requirements, instrumentation layout, and test procedures for ground‑test and flight‑test campaigns.
  • Correlate test data with analytical predictions, update models, and document discrepancies.
  • Produce clear, concise analysis reports, design briefs, and risk‑mitigation packages.
  • Maintain configuration‑controlled analysis files.
  • Present findings at design reviews (DDRs, CDRs, PDRs).
  • Evaluate emerging analysis methods, software updates, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to internal technical standards, templates, and lessons‑learned databases.
