About The Position

Cognito Systems, a joint venture between Resolution Think LLC and Quarter Line Consulting Services, is seeking a Strength & Conditioning Coach to work on-site at Camp Pendleton. This role is crucial for the United States Marine Corps’ Sports Medicine Injury Prevention (SMIP) Program, aiming to optimize Marine performance and readiness. As a civilian contractor, you will contribute to providing outstanding healthcare and human performance expertise within military medicine.

Requirements

  • US citizen
  • Able to read, write, and speak English
  • Maintain active BLS through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field (e.g., Kinesiology, athletic training, exercise science, exercise physiology, biomechanics or education)
  • Certification as a Strength and Conditioning Coach (NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) OR CSCC Strength and Conditioning Coach (SCCC))
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience as a strength and conditioning coach; 12 months of experience in preceding 36 months
  • Maintain level of fitness that allows individual to demonstrate all prescribed exercises/activities and to hike rough terrain and function in austere environments
  • Lift and manipulate weights up to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Complement Athletic Trainer capabilities to support initial screening, primary prevention, and “return to play” functions.
  • Serve as the primary linkage between SMIP Athletic Trainers and unit Force Fitness Instructors.
  • Assist in the rehabilitation of injured Marines through evidence-based strength and conditioning programming.
  • Coordinate individualized exercise programs for safe and expeditious return to training.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to review physical training programs, injury prevention, and reconditioning treatment programs.
  • Refer personnel with new or undiagnosed medical conditions to a licensed medical provider.
  • Conduct specialized assessments based on unit Mission Essential Tasks (METs).
  • Gather, assess, and display data using sensor technology and software systems.
  • Prepare updates on the physical readiness of supported Marines in conjunction with Athletic Trainers.
  • Design, administer, and evaluate unit and individual physical training protocols.
  • Assist in the design of evidence-based physical training plans to optimize performance and mitigate injuries.
  • Provide instruction and guidance on applied anatomy, exercise physiology, kinesiology and biomechanics, physical conditioning, injury prevention and recognition, stretching, and posture and body mechanics.
  • Oversee the use of assigned equipment, ensuring safe and effective operation.
  • Assist with inventory and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in the preparation of the budget and supply requisitions.
  • Prepare information collected for use by Commanders, Marines, Athletic Trainers, and healthcare providers.
  • Support service level data collection and research efforts.
  • Support the development and/or revision of local SMIP Program and Force Fitness Instructor Program Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Attend required training and participate in periodic professional development training.
