Strength Analyst 2 - Vulcan Development

United Launch Alliance•Centennial, CO
•$81,695 - $136,159

About The Position

The Strength Analyst will support Vulcan Development activities, including Centaur V on SLS in support of Artemis and Upper Stage Advancement long-duration capabilities. The role performs strength, fatigue, and fracture analyses of propulsion and structural components, including nonlinear analyses, and creates analysis models and hand calculations to provide strength inputs and recommendations for new designs and installations. The analyst reviews and approves 3D engineering layouts, 3D models, designs and drawings, and 2D drawing changes for propulsion, fluid-system, and mechanical-system components. The role makes engineering design recommendations considering thermal, mechanical, and pressure loads, appropriate material properties, configurations, and safety factors; documents analysis results in strength reports; and supports peer, tabletop, and formal design reviews, fast-paced design and analysis cycles, and trade studies. The candidate must be able to work with minimal mentor oversight. The role uses tools and software including Nastran, Femap, NX CAD/Simulation, NASGRO, Microsoft Office, Unix/Linux-based analysis tools, Mathcad, Matlab, Abaqus, and Jira. The position is based in Denver, with 10% travel and relocation potentially available. ULA notes that most salaried team members work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off; flexible work environments are also offered.
