Streets Attendant (Hourly) - Seasonal
About The Position
The City of Madison is hiring Streets Attendants for seasonal work in the Streets Division. This is entry-level work, and no work hours are guaranteed. Applicants who are not selected in the initial round will remain active on the eligible list and may be referred as vacancies occur throughout the season. Seasonal employees in good standing may be asked to return the following year. The pay rate for this position is a base wage of $18.57 per hour plus a bonus of $2.50 per hour. The payroll title for these positions is Street and Sewer Maintenance Worker 1 (Hourly).
Requirements
- Ability to lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and must be capable of lifting 100 pounds maximum weight.
- Ability to frequently bend, twist, squat, climb and reach for extended periods of time in variable weather conditions.
- Ability to meet the transportation requirements of these positions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multicultural communities.
Responsibilities
- Greet the public and inform them of policies and guidelines regarding yard waste.
- Perform recordkeeping duties of surveys and weights of the yard waste collected at the site.
- Perform daily cleaning of the Streets Division's fleet of Street Sweepers.
- Perform other assigned tasks in and around the Streets Division Maintenance shops.
- Perform heavy manual labor.
- Perform related work as assigned.
