About The Position

The Center for Youth, founded by youth for youth, is dedicated to helping young people reach their full potential by creating opportunities, removing barriers, and promoting social justice. The Outreach and Youth Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role in connecting runaway, homeless, and street youth (RHY) with vital community resources. This includes addressing their medical, mental health, financial, emergency shelter, and basic living and safety needs. The position involves crisis intervention, problem-solving, action planning, and skill-building to tackle immediate life and safety issues, reduce the risk of exploitation and abuse, and prevent homelessness. Additionally, the specialist will recruit, train, and support RHY for The Center's Speakers Bureau and Youth Advisory Board.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 1 year relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of experience and education
• A valid Driver's license
• Strong communication and literacy skills
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office & Internet Explorer

Responsibilities

• Crisis Intervention
• Screening and Assessment
• Individual Counseling & Case Management
• Community Outreach to locations where youth are known to congregate
• Implement and staff the Speakers Bureau and Youth Advisory Board
• Maintain client confidentiality, consistent with Center policies
• Referral readiness and referral services
• Accurate and timely case and program record keeping
• Effectively manage time to meet responsibilities
• Engage youth to offer services and referrals
