About The Position

This position is responsible for participating in the repair and maintenance of city streets. The work consists of related maintenance duties. Inclement weather and heavy traffic contributes to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to participate in the maintenance and repair of city streets and infrastructure. Successful performance contributes to safe and well-maintained streets.

Requirements

Knowledge of street construction and maintenance principles.
Knowledge of work safety principles and practices.
Knowledge of street maintenance equipment operation and maintenance principles.
Skill in the use of construction equipment.
Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
No Experience required.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of laboring tasks to repair and maintain city streets and drainage systems.
Patches holes with asphalt; smoothes and levels asphalt.
Weed eats and mows grass on rights-of-way.
Collects litter and debris along roadways.
Flags traffic at work sites.
Operates a variety of equipment, tools, and vehicles; cleans and maintains equipment, tools, and vehicles.
Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
Cleans and restocks park restrooms.
Assists in the installation and maintenance of street signs.
Collect yard debris.
Accompanies a refuse truck to collect household waste as assigned.
