About The Position

The City of Jefferson is currently accepting applications for two Street Maintenance Workers for its Public Works Department, Street Division. This position is responsible for maintaining City-owned streets and sidewalks, performing street sweeping, snow removal, right-of-way mowing, and routine maintenance on equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma
• One year experience in construction and equipment maintenance and repair
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
• Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 100 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to operate backhoes, loaders, bobcat and dump truck
• Ability to be on call 24 hours a day for emergency purposes
• Ability to follow directions
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to organize equipment requirement necessary for daily jobs
• Must have Missouri CDL Class A or B with air brakes and tank endorsement within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduled maintenance, cleaning, and repairs on City streets, rights-of-ways, curb, gutters, alleys, medians, storm water drainage systems, and retention basins.
• Repairs and maintains city streets by patching asphalt, concrete, and gravel streets.
• Performs routine maintenance activities such as snow removal from City owned sidewalks and streets.
• Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Operates equipment such as backhoes, loaders, bobcat, dump truck, boom truck and brush hog.
