Strategy & Operations Manager - Finance

Savvy Wealth•New York, NY
•$180,000 - $200,000•Onsite

About The Position

Savvy partners with independent financial advisors who move their practices onto our platform. A core part of that partnership is how we pay them. Every advisor has a negotiated economic arrangement with Savvy, and turning those arrangements into accurate, on-time monthly payments is its own operational discipline. You will own how money moves between Savvy and the 100+ financial advisors on our platform, along with the models, systems, and decisions around it. We're hiring a Strategy & Operations generalist to join a small, high-leverage team that reports to our Head of Finance. This is an operator seat first. You'll own live, recurring processes where accuracy matters and our customers notice right away if something goes wrong. Expect to work across the company. You'll partner with Advisory Operations, Trading, Billing, and Post-Sales, and you'll talk with the advisors directly. Some days are planned around projects. Other days you'll get pulled in five directions by advisor needs, and you'll be expected to triage and respond quickly. Our Finance team is small, and we run like a much bigger one because of how we use AI. We build most of our own tools. Payout engines, reconciliation workflows, reporting, and agents that handle recurring analysis were built by people on this team. When we do buy software, we choose finance platforms built around AI and automation, not legacy systems with AI added on. We expect everyone to work this way. When a problem shows up, your first move should be asking how AI can solve it, and you should know when the output needs a human check before money moves.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years in investment banking, consulting, or a strategy, ops, or finance role at a high-growth startup. We're especially interested if you've done both: started in banking or consulting, then moved to a startup.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel. This is a hard requirement. You will build and audit multi-input calculations and should be comfortable with lookups, nested logic, and pivot tables without working from a template.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a low tolerance for unexplained variances, including small ones.
  • Comfort chasing information across an organization. Most of the context you need lives on other teams, and getting it is part of the job.
  • Strong written communication. You will explain compensation calculations to people whose income depends on them.
  • AI-native. You already use LLMs and agents to get real leverage in your work, and you've built workflows, tools, or automations with them. You know when humans need to be in the loop because the stakes are high.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in wealth management, financial services, or fintech, particularly with advisor, broker, or producer compensation.
  • Experience with commissions or incentive compensation where terms are negotiated individually rather than standardized.
  • Experience as the first person in a role, building the process behind it rather than inheriting one.

Responsibilities

  • Own core finance operations end to end. Take over recurring processes that move money, such as advisor payouts and the programs around them, invoicing and collections, and partner revenue. Run them accurately every cycle and stand behind the numbers.
  • Automate what you own. Replace manual, spreadsheet-driven steps with AI-powered workflows and tools. Document every process, add controls, and turn one-off judgment calls into procedures someone else could run.
  • Be the point person. Answer advisor and internal questions directly instead of escalating them, and work with the right teams to resolve issues at the root.
  • Help build the function. You'll be one of the first people in this seat and will shape what the role and the team become.
  • Support strategic projects. Examples include pricing and economics for advisor deals, design of new advisor programs, vendor evaluations, and planning analysis for leadership.
