About The Position

Arlo is rebuilding health insurance for small businesses from first principles, aiming to maximize the portion of premium dollars that go towards actual care rather than administrative overhead. They achieve this by identifying fraud, guiding members to better and more affordable care, automating operational tasks, and eliminating unnecessary vendors. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is central to their strategy, being applied across underwriting, operations, clinical programs, and member experience to create an increasingly efficient insurer. The company is already established, operating profitably with significant premium volume, covering tens of thousands of members, and experiencing rapid growth. They are backed by prominent venture capital firms and have a team composed of individuals from leading tech companies and experienced healthcare professionals. This role is crucial for building new functions, capabilities, and teams within Arlo's AI-native health plan. The Strategy & Operations Director will be responsible for initiating and developing these areas from the ground up, working directly with the founders. Key responsibilities include acting as a strategic thought partner, leading cross-functional projects, and establishing new operational functions. Examples of projects include designing marketing experiments, setting up a clinical team, architecting partnerships with distribution channels, and establishing an insurance captive company.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a high-intensity settings (consulting, investment banking, high growth startup, etc.)
  • Ability to operate as a generalist and learn extremely fast to dive deep into a topic (T-shaped profile)
  • Strong bias for action, sense of ownership, and ability to dive into the weeds
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with metrics and data
  • High emotional intelligence, integrity, and collaborative spirit

Responsibilities

  • Design and drive key marketing experiments
  • Setup a clinical team
  • Architect partnerships with key distribution partners
  • Setup an insurance captive company
  • Plan and execute key initiatives in close collaboration with Arlo's founders
  • Design, build and operationalize new functions (prototype & run new processes/ capabilities, define new team roles, manage transition from "prototype into production")
  • Recruit, onboard and scale new teams, working closely with Arlo's talent lead
  • Support founders with planning, decision making and operational follow-through
