About The Position

The Strategy Manager serves as a strategic partner to the executive leadership team, enabling effective execution, alignment, and operational excellence across a large, complex engineering organization. This role acts as a force multiplier—driving priorities, improving decision-making cadence, and ensuring cross-functional coordination and focus on strategy execution. Advanced Power Technologies (APT) defines and delivers Caterpillar’s next generation of power system technologies. The organization leads product strategy, long term technology roadmaps, and lifecycle leadership for advanced power, electrification, electronic controls, software, and energy solutions across the entire range of Power and Energy applications. APT integrates hardware, software, and digital services to deliver scalable, reliable, and future‑ready power solutions. Partnering closely with product groups, engineering, and global delivery teams, APT balances near‑term business execution with long‑term technology leadership—enabling best in class electronics quality, fast response to market changes, differentiated customer value through vertical integration, improved uptime, and sustainable power systems across Caterpillar’s Power and Energy product portfolio.

Requirements

Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
Knowledge of stakeholder management techniques; ability to systematically identify stakeholders, analyze their needs and expectations, and implement various tasks to engage with them.
Knowledge of consulting process; ability to engage in conducting research and analysis, finding solutions and preparing recommendations.

Nice To Haves

Bachelors Degree in engineering or MBA.
Demonstrated track record of results and expanding responsibilities.
Experience in engine electronics software, systems or mechatronics.
Demonstrated ability to story tell and communicate at technical and executive levels business proposals and gain buy-in.

Responsibilities

Partner with the engineering executive to set priorities, track execution, and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
Work directly with functional and business leaders on developing and executing of our strategic goals.
Lead planning cadences, operating reviews, and follow-up on key initiatives and commitments.
Accelerate outcomes across initiatives including driving Advanced Power Technologies transformation projects.
Coordinate cross-functional efforts across engineering, product, operations, and corporate functions
Prepare executive materials, briefs, and communications for senior leadership and stakeholders.
Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities; proactively recommend actions to improve organizational effectiveness.
Partner and drive insights on financial reporting, forecasting, and analytical implications of strategic initiatives.
Track performance against segment strategic goals and KPIs, removing roadblocks and ensuring alignment across the enterprise.
Support talent, culture, and change initiatives within the engineering organization.
