The Strategic Weapons System Test Engineer must proactively prepare for and execute assigned Strategic Weapon System Testing for the COLUMBIA new construction submarine, in a safe and efficient manner. This position will be on 2nd or 3rd shift. The role involves conducting thorough job hazard analyses and briefings, ensuring safety tagout and re-entry control procedures are in place, and certifying prerequisites before commencing tests. Responsibilities include evaluating recorded data, conducting effective shift turnovers, verifying retest requirements, documenting test delays and non-conformances, performing test procedure reviews, leading test execution, and managing test data collection and certification. The engineer will also qualify as and execute duties of a Test Director & Shift Test Director, reporting to their Test Supervisor or Assistant Chief Test Engineer (ACTE). Specific duties include coordination of testing between interfacing departments, testing of piping systems & tanks, hydraulic operations, electrical cable integrity checks, tracking trade installations, supporting GFE component installation and inspections, supporting extended testing durations and shift work, processing ripouts for re-entry control, and performing testing in accordance with specific Navy outlines and plans.
