About The Position

Crusoe is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Sourcing Specialist - Buyer to join their dynamic team. This critical role will directly support the successful execution of innovative data center, power generation, and manufacturing projects, which capture wasted natural gas from oil fields, wind, and solar energy and convert it into electricity to power advanced data centers. As a Strategic Sourcing - Buyer, you will play a vital role in sourcing and securing the necessary materials, equipment, and services for field operations. Expertise in procurement and contract management will be instrumental in ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of critical project components, ultimately contributing to the company's success in mitigating environmental impact and driving the energy transition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in direct procurement roles (e.g., Buyer, Capital Project Procurement, or Category Manager).
  • Proven experience in purchasing equipment for large-scale capital projects in the data center or power plant industry (compressor stations, substations, power generation, etc.).
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to interact and deal-make effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • This position is designated a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with industry-standard procurement software (e.g., Coupa).
  • Industry certifications such as CPM, CPSM, CPSD, MCIPS, APICS, CPIM, CSCP, or CTSC.
  • Direct experience with contracts, Statements of Work (SOW), and PO terms.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze product and price data for negotiations; conduct comparative analyses of vendor terms/quotes against historical data to develop recommendations.
  • Manage formal and informal source selection and screening processes.
  • Conduct multiple concurrent bid events (RFIs, RFQs, RFPs).
  • Prepare bid summaries and commercial award recommendations for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Locate, qualify, and promote potential new suppliers.
  • Manage contracted suppliers against quarterly performance KPIs.
  • Manage vendor scorecarding through bid events, identifying and weighting risk factors before vendor recommendation.
  • Experience with contract awards, modifications, and subcontracts.
  • Prepare and present terms and conditions in bids or proposals.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term supplier relationships.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Engineers, and Legal to ensure smooth project execution; communicate effectively with a high volume of diverse stakeholders.
  • Proactively communicate progress and potential challenges to relevant stakeholders.
