About The Position

We are looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager, North America to join our Services Sourcing Business Area for Grinding, Bulk, Pyro, and Smelting products. In this role, you will develop and execute sourcing strategies that improve product profitability, strengthen supplier performance, and support business growth across our Grinding, Bulk, Pyro, and Smelting product groups in North America. You will drive supply base development, supplier negotiations, performance management, and sourcing improvements that enhance quality, availability, lead times, and overall competitiveness. You will report to the Director, Services Sourcing. This role is based in York, PA, with hybrid working options available. This role includes approximately 15-20% travel to suppliers, manufacturing locations, and Metso sites globally. You will join a global team of sourcing and supply chain professionals focused on delivering strategic value through supplier development, category management, and procurement excellence. Our team plays a key role in supporting business growth by ensuring a competitive, high-performing, and innovative supply base across Metso's Services Business Area, with a shared focus on delivering strategic value through supplier development and procurement excellence. We collaborate closely with Business Line leadership, Product Groups, R&D, Sales and Proposal Management, Supplier Quality, Global and Market Area Sourcing teams, as well as strategic suppliers worldwide. Our team operates across multiple regions and countries, and our ways of working emphasize partnership, accountability, continuous improvement, and delivering results together.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field.
  • Proven experience delivering measurable sourcing, procurement, or supply chain improvements in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of strategic sourcing, supplier development, supplier relationship management, and contract negotiations.
  • Experience developing sourcing strategies and translating them into actionable business plans and measurable results.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across functions and build strong working relationships in a global organization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a hands-on approach to execution.
  • Experience using ERP systems, Microsoft Office applications, and sourcing or procurement tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within mining, heavy industry, engineered products, industrial equipment, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with global supplier networks and Best Cost Country sourcing initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies and procurement roadmaps for Grinding, Bulk, Pyro, and Smelting product groups in the North America region.
  • Build and optimize a competitive North America supplier base that supports cost, quality, delivery, and growth objectives.
  • Identify and implement sourcing opportunities while developing existing and new supplier relationships.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, contracting activities, and commercial discussions with strategic suppliers.
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance related to cost, quality, lead times, availability, and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, sales, and operations teams to support business priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Support sourcing involvement in key R&D projects, customer opportunities, and supply planning activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement of sourcing KPIs, including savings, supplier performance, contract coverage, and product cost development.
