About The Position

This role involves supporting senior managers and business line executives in procurement and sourcing. The Strategic Sourcing Manager II will act as a liaison with business partners, provide direction and support to achieve TD's objectives, and present research findings and recommendations. A key aspect of the role is leading or assisting with supplier negotiations and RPFs to maximize price and performance, and intervening in supplier negotiations when necessary. The position also requires ensuring adherence to enterprise frameworks, leading relationships with corporate functions, staying knowledgeable on emerging issues and regulatory requirements, and assessing potential impacts to the Bank. Risk management is a significant component, including identifying, mitigating, and reporting on risk issues, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements, and overseeing remediation plans. The role also emphasizes cultivating a positive team culture, promoting inclusive leadership, enabling colleague growth through development and recognition, and fostering a continuous learning environment. Specifically, strong knowledge of AI and IT/software vendors, solutions, and market trends is crucial for informing sourcing strategies. The role involves evaluating AI commercial models and leading procurement strategies to optimize cost, scalability, and risk alignment, focusing on short to medium-term issues (6-12 months).

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Managers in supporting business line senior executives
  • Act as liaison with business partners and provide direction and support and enable TD and business specific objectives and goals
  • Present research findings and make recommendations to management that support category and business partner strategies
  • Lead or assist with supplier negotiations/RPFs to maximize price/performance in a given category and work with business partners to influence or intervene in supplier negotiations when necessary
  • Ensure team adheres to enterprise frameworks and methodologies related to overall business management activities
  • Lead relationships with corporate and/or control functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
  • Support team in staying knowledgeable on emerging issues, trends and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts to the Bank
  • Assess / identify key issues and escalate to appropriate levels and relevant stakeholders and business management where required
  • Identify, mitigate and report on risk issues per enterprise policy / guidance and ensure appropriate escalation processes are followed
  • Ensure business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets)
  • Lead relationships with business lines / corporate and/or control functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional / enterprise initiatives as an organizational or subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations
  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary
  • Manage oversight process, risk-based identification and monitoring of related risks and regulatory compliance across the supported functions, while ensuring key controls and processes are effectively managed
  • Oversee or lead the facilitation and/or implementation of action / remediation plans to address performance / risk / governance issues
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
