About The Position

The Office of the University Dean for Education, within CUNY's Central Office of Academic Affairs, is seeking a part-time Project Specialist to support strategic initiatives with the NYC Public Schools (NYCPS) and other partners. This role focuses on programs that support teachers and teacher candidates, specifically CUNY’s work with NYC Public Schools to increase the number of Bilingual Special Education teachers. The initiative involves recruiting and enrolling current NYC public school teachers into specific certification programs at CUNY colleges. The Project Specialist will collaborate closely with partners and stakeholders within the NYC Public Schools system, support all grant activities, and manage data collection. Additionally, the Specialist may assist the Director of Strategic Initiatives with strategic projects and operations, particularly in high-need certification areas. The role requires responsiveness to internal and external partners and involves managing and updating online systems, communicating with stakeholders, designing and managing application processes, tracking and analyzing data, recruiting candidates, developing and hosting webinars, engaging in cultivation efforts, marketing, and candidate selection and enrollment, along with other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Project and data management experience is required.
  • Must be a clear communicator, demonstrating excellent speaking, writing, and editing skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and prioritize workload.
  • Must demonstrate excellent project management skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the CUNY university system is preferred.
  • Experience working in P-12 settings is preferred.
  • Experience with or ability to quickly learn SharePoint, Excel, SurveyMonkey Apply, Alchemer, Constant Contact, the Google Suite, and Microsoft Teams is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support strategic initiatives with NYC Public Schools and other partners related to programs that support teachers and teacher candidates.
  • Support CUNY’s work with NYC Public Schools regarding increasing the number of Bilingual Special Education teachers.
