Join the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and help us fulfill our mission to protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations. We are hiring for one full-time, permanent position located at our headquarters in Salem, Oregon. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) cares for Oregon’s fish and wildlife and habitat on behalf of everyone. Whether we are improving habitats for fish in coastal rivers, restoring bighorn sheep to their historic range in northeast Oregon or protecting wetlands for migratory birds, our work makes it possible for Oregonians and visitors to enjoy the bountiful natural fish and wildlife resources of this state. Oregon is more than a workplace; it’s a way of life. Here, you’ll find world-class vineyards, craft breweries, and vibrant communities that celebrate diversity and connectedness through music, museums, and local events. Love the outdoors? Oregon offers endless opportunities for camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing. You can fish 365 days a year and enjoy hunting for big game, waterfowl, and game birds. The stunning Oregon Coast draws thousands for clamming, crabbing, and ocean fishing for halibut, salmon, and tuna—plus unforgettable sightings of whales, sea lions, and other marine wildlife. Join us and experience a state where your career thrives alongside adventure, culture, and natural beauty. Oregon isn’t just where you work—it’s where you live your best life. As the Strategic Initiative Business Analyst (OPA4), you will join the Director’s Office at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) in a high‑level strategic, analytical, and coordination role. It blends enterprise project oversight, organizational performance management, complex process problem‑solving, and government‑to‑government tribal relations. The work directly influences agency effectiveness, public perception, internal operations, and cross‑agency coordination. You will support the planning, monitoring, and delivery of large, complex, cross-agency initiatives; help teams stay aligned on goals and outcomes; identify risks and barriers; and bring forward solutions that strengthen ODFW’s operational effectiveness. This role requires exceptional soft skills—strong communication, relationship building, emotional intelligence, and a non‑directive, supportive approach to helping teams do their best work. You will also track and organize government‑to‑government tribal relations for ODFW, ensuring consultation, communication, and partnership are carried out responsibly and lawfully. This is your opportunity to make a statewide impact.
