About The Position

This position is responsible for planning and performing engineering duties as assigned, working independently. Reviewing, modifying and approving project specifications of the most complex nature to ensure their conformance to applicable codes and standards and generally accepted industry practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science Engineering degree (or related Science degree from a college or university with an accredited engineering program) or current (or previously held) licensed Senior Reactor Operator.
  • Ideally 5+ years of experience; but all levels of experience may be reviewed
  • Experience in power plant systems or components engineering desired
  • Experience with fleet-wide initiatives and cross-plant coordination preferred
  • Experience in managing projects with multiple stakeholders and complex requirements a plus
  • Proficiency utilizing data analysis to inform strategic decisions is favorable

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement systems and asset strategies for the VISTRA nuclear fleet, focusing on operational sustainability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Create a comprehensive long-range plan for component replacement and refurbishment, including timelines and critical milestones.
  • Inform the VISTRA corporation of future budgetary needs based on the long-range plan.
  • Work with cross functional teams to develop major outage and preventative maintenance work scope.
  • Oversee the tracking and management of assets throughout their life cycle, ensuring optimal utilization and timely maintenance and replacement.
  • Coordinate with supply chain partners to ensure availability and reliability of critical components and materials over the long term.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential issues and implement mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and reliability of the fleet.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address long-term challenges and uncertainties.
  • Identify and integrate emerging technologies and best practices to enhance fleet efficiency.
  • Evaluate the impact of new technologies on the long-range plan and component life cycles.
  • Prepare engineering reports.
  • Perform tasks in accordance with established expectations for nuclear safety and personnel safety.
  • May be responsible for developing other employees in area of expertise.
  • Serves a lead role on teams, processes, or programs.
