About The Position

The Strategic Commodity Manager is part of the Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM) organization who interfaces with suppliers and various organizations within Lam to resolve delivery, cost, and production challenges, as well as opportunity to develop excellence in manufacturing. In this position you will play a vital role in managing suppliers in the Computer/Controller commodity with core responsibility to ensure finished goods are delivered per plan. You will be responsible to develop a 3-year vision and strategy for assigned commodities. The strategy should enhance competitive differentiation and address cost, delivery, and quality. You will work across the organization to formulate and execute the strategies, align development deliverables, negotiate contracts and agreements, benchmark suppliers, and resolve delivery, cost, and production challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or Business with 15 years of experience ; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8 years experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of working experience in Supply Chain, Operations, or production environment, preferably in Semiconductor industry.
  • Creative thinking and strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Has worked in a leadership role within a global matrix managed multi-site company with manufacturing and supplier operations spread over multiple-geo regions.
  • Has extensive experience interfacing with internal senior stakeholders and suppliers with proven record in managing these relationships and driving executive escalation when necessary.
  • Working knowledge of the of the PCBA industry, processes electronic sub-component supply chain ecosystem.
  • Experience in managing Electronic Manufacturing Service (EMS) suppliers in high mix/low volume environment.
  • Experience with dynamic electronic component supply and demand environment with proven industry savvy knowledge on how to source critical components in both direct source and open market.

  • MBA or post graduate degree in Supply Chain Management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier relationships, costs, lead sourcing decisions, plan adequate capacity, evaluate performance, and manage commodity risks.
  • Benchmark, develop, implement, and improve supply chain processes and infrastructure to support quality, scalability, and supply continuity.
  • Work collaboratively with cross functional team and internal stakeholders in development of local and regional suppliers.
