About The Position

Styropek is the largest EPS (Expandable Polystyrene) producer in America, with 5 manufacturing plants in 5 countries and part of the Alpek family. This position is responsible for services, MRO items, raw material, packaging, and assigned capital procurement portfolios. This position also provides leadership, coaching and guidance to the Tactical Buyer. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years related experience and continued professional development OR 10+ years combination of post-secondary education and related experience and continued professional development
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strategic thinking, planning, and analytical skills to understand supply market dynamics, generate purchasing strategies, effectively negotiate agreements, and implement solutions to complex and multi-dimensional problems
  • MRO and Labor Services portfolio management experience required
  • Working knowledge or proficiency in SAP

  • Experience with third-party contractor qualification companies such as ISNetworld a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business, operational, and cost objectives.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms and conditions, master supply agreements, and spot purchases.
  • Lead RFQs, bid packages, commercial evaluations, bid analyses, and award recommendations.
  • Support global and corporate sourcing initiatives and supplier agreements.
  • Manage supplier relationships through business reviews, performance metrics, and continuous improvement plans.
  • Monitor supplier financial health, market conditions, supply risks, capacity constraints, and cost drivers.
  • Coordinate raw material qualifications, supplier approvals, and confidentiality agreements activities.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Technology, Maintenance, Operations, and Finance on capital projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Support supplier selection, commercial evaluation, negotiations, and implementation of capital project contracts.
  • Manage requisitions, purchase orders, invoice resolution, SAP reporting, pricing updates, and procurement analytics.
  • Track procurement savings, service metrics, delivery performance, technology projects, and sourcing opportunities.
  • Coordinate daily supply issues and ensure continuity of supply for manufacturing operations.
  • Identify opportunities for supplier development, standardization, process optimization, and risk reduction.
