About The Position

The Strategic Buyer will work with Supply Chain Analysts and planners to procure material in support of production requirements. This role involves compiling and issuing Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders to suppliers, conducting in-depth data analysis to identify cost-saving and cost-avoidance opportunities utilizing material procurement strategies, and demonstrating rich knowledge of the Supply Chain Management field and its operation in a manufacturing environment. The buyer will execute supplier negotiations in a coordinated effort with Purchasing and planners, and compile and manipulate data to make informed business decisions. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in material procurement in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of best purchasing practices as a government contractor
  • In depth knowledge of Supply Chain Management field and how it operates in a Manufacturing environment
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability and to obtain a clearance may be required
  • Able to assess, install, and modify equipment, and inspect machinery
  • Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, grasp and reach with hands and arms, handle and operate hand/power tools and machine controls
  • Perform frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements
  • Prolonged periods of standing while operating machinery
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, etc.) for the assigned task
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline preferred
  • Aerospace and Defense background preferred
