About The Position

The Strategic Account Manager for Protective and Marine Coatings is responsible for managing and growing key customer accounts within the protective and marine coatings sector. This role involves developing long-term relationships with strategic clients, understanding their business needs, and delivering tailored coating solutions that enhance their operational performance and protect assets in harsh environments. You will work closely with technical teams, local representation, marketing, and supply chain to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve sales targets. This role reports directly to the Strategic Business Development Director for the US & Canada region (USCA).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 or more years of experience in sales or account management within the protective coatings, marine coatings, or related industrial coatings sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of protective and marine coatings, including surface preparation, application techniques, and industry standards (e.g., NACE, SSPC).
  • Demonstrated background working collaboratively across departments and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet with clients and attend industry events. Travel may be up to 75%.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with strategic accounts in the protective and marine coatings market. Act as the primary point of contact for these clients.
  • Identify opportunities to grow sales within existing accounts by understanding client needs, proposing appropriate coating solutions, and negotiating contracts.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their operational challenges, coating requirements, and project specifications to recommend optimal products and services.
  • Work closely with technical support, R&D, and product management teams to provide clients with expert advice on coating selection, application methods, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes affecting the protective and marine coatings industry to proactively address client needs and identify new business opportunities.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure delivery, quality assurance, and successful implementation of coating projects.
  • Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and account plans to track progress against targets and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing issues promptly, managing expectations, and delivering value-added services.
