About The Position

The Strategic Account Executive Stop Loss is a senior-level role that is responsible for the oversight and expansion of a substantial portfolio of high-value, stand-alone stop loss insurance accounts. This field-based role enables associates to primarily operate in the field, traveling to client sites or designated locations as their role requires, with occasional office attendance for meetings or training. This approach ensures flexibility, responsiveness to client needs, and direct, hands-on engagement. Candidates not within a reasonable commuting distance from the posting location(s) will not be considered for employment, unless accommodation is granted as required by law.

Requirements

  • Requires a BS/BA and a minimum 8 years in sales or account management, or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Sales license and appointment required where necessary upon hire or is required to be obtained and appointed within sixty (60) days of hire.

  • Client facing experience strongly preferred.
  • Stop loss experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel 30% preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall management and servicing of an assigned portfolio of stand-alone stop loss insurance accounts.
  • Engagement with complex clients, brokers, and consultants to elevate client relationships through advanced strategic planning and consultation.
  • The establishment and immediate development of key client / broker / consultant relationships at the decision-making and C-Suite levels to maximize retention and client satisfaction.
  • Overall management and guidance of the renewal process and the delivery of strategic recommendations to clients to ensure continued success, partnership and retention.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Underwriting, and Claims / Operations, to provide comprehensive, industry-leading client solutions.
  • Effective, consultative analysis and conveyance of complex risk assessments, trend, and plan design changes to demonstrate the Wellpoint value story and possible financial impacts to clients.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert and resource for both external and internal teams, while maintaining up-to-date understanding of industry trends and innovations.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other account management team members to foster team development and knowledge sharing.
