Position Summary: Based in Vernon, CA the Straightener will perform essential job functions associated with preparing and performing basic sheet metal and bar straightening under the direction of the Supervisor/Leadperson to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.

Requirements

  • This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have the basic ability to read micrometers or verniers.
  • May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language
  • Must be able to wear protective safety equipment as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Level C: Entry Level: 0 to 24 months of experience. You will be expected to learn and grow in your role, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Level B: Mid-Level: 2 to 3 years of experience. You should have a proven track record in heat treating, along with the ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
  • Level A: Senior-Level: 3 to 5 years of experience. You will lead initiatives, mentor junior team members, and make strategic contributions to the department.

Responsibilities

  • Checks and records straightness and dimensional records as required by work orders.
  • Performs routine mechanical straightening- prepares material, performs basic metal bar straightening and plate straightening as required.
  • Performs shrinker and stretch press set-up and operation.
  • Ability to handle hot parts up to 1400°F while performing straightening operations.
  • Promotes and practices safety and good housekeeping
  • Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
  • This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.
  • Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism.
