About The Position

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws. This role involves local routes with a 1st Shift schedule, Monday - Friday, 6 am - 2:30 pm. The driver will maintain the vehicle according to Elkhart Transportation management policy, operate the vehicle safely and efficiently, and support on-time delivery by transporting loads to the proper destination while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations. Responsibilities also include inspecting trailer loads, verifying product count, and ensuring proper documentation is completed and returned to the Transportation Manager.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Operators License
• 2 years prior experience driving in large vehicles, such as box truck or similar
• Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices
• Strong written and oral communication.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred

Responsibilities

• Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
• Maintain vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy.
• Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
• Support on time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving facility.
• Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
• Comply with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
• Comply with performance measures.
