Under the direct supervision of the Public Works Director, performs various administrative, technical, and physical tasks for the Public Works Department and the Stormwater Management Program. In cooperation with the Public Works Director and the Stormwater Program Coordinator, the Stormwater Technician will perform tasks such as assisting in the City’s Stormwater Management Program activities, responding to complaints, conducting field inspections, and water quality monitoring. The role also involves conducting inspections, plan reviews, and site surveys for stormwater runoff compliance, which requires the use of GPS and other computer-based survey equipment. Additionally, the technician will assist in conducting environmental education programs for the public, compiling data and completing reports as required by State and Federal regulations for MS4 communities, and maintaining electronic and physical records. Responsibilities include inspecting City stormwater infrastructure, conducting routine sampling and testing of stormwater runoff for illicit discharges, identifying issues of non-compliance, and coordinating maintenance and repair orders. The employee works in both an inside office setting and outside in various weather conditions, may be exposed to hazardous materials, and operates motorized vehicles and equipment. The role requires maintaining confidentiality and performing other duties as assigned.
