The City of Olathe is seeking a skilled, safety-focused leader to serve as a Stormwater Team Supervisor. This role leads field crews responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and improving stormwater infrastructure such as inlets, pipes, culverts, ditches, channels, detention/retention facilities, and green stormwater assets. Under general direction, the supervisor coordinates stormwater system maintenance operations to protect public safety, reduce localized flooding, support regulatory compliance, and preserve public infrastructure. Responsibilities include planning work, assigning staff and equipment, overseeing contractor activities, responding to drainage-related service requests and emergencies, and maintaining operational records. The position involves supervising, assigning, training, evaluating, and coaching maintenance staff, developing daily work assignments, monitoring productivity, and adjusting schedules. It also includes promoting a safe work environment, participating in hiring and performance evaluations, and ensuring staff maintain required licenses and certifications. The role requires coordinating response to flooding, blocked drainage facilities, sinkholes, washouts, storm damage, and other urgent public works issues, and participating in after-hours, on-call, and emergency operations. Additionally, the supervisor will respond to inquiries regarding drainage and stormwater maintenance concerns and coordinate field activities with various city departments and external agencies.
