About The Position

Reputable Chicago-based firm is hiring a Stormwater Project Engineer for their team in Gary, Indiana! The role involves performing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, designing stormwater systems, and serving as a technical lead on projects. The engineer will also be responsible for preparing reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates, as well as working with other disciplines and mentoring junior staff. Building client and vendor relationships is also a key aspect of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • 7+ years of water resources experience
  • Experience with municipal and/or highway drainage design projects
  • PE License for Illinois and/or Indiana
  • Proficient in Microstation
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (including HEC-RAS and SWMM)
  • Experience in AutoCad preferred

  • Experience in AutoCad

Responsibilities

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of floodplains and floodways (bridge and culvert crossings)
  • Analyze flood problem areas to identify problems, look for solutions, and create a design with recommended alternatives
  • Stormwater system analysis and design for municipal/roadway projects (conveyance, storage, and stormwater quality best management practices)
  • Design of soil erosion/sediment control practices
  • Serve as the technical lead on projects
  • Perform a variety of design tasks (calculations/models, report/plan preparation, quantity calculations, construction details, specifications, cost estimates, and other related tasks)
  • Work on multi-discipline projects with other disciplines
  • Review engineering work completed by others
  • Build/maintain client and vendor relationships
  • Mentor/train junior staff
