About The Position

Receives and reviews stormwater management plans, conducts field inspections to verify adherence to stormwater requirements and regulations, and collaborates with the Environmental Stormwater Compliance Plan Administrator to ensure Pueblo County fulfills the requirements of the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit. THIS POSTING MAY BE USED TO FILL MULTIPLE OPENINGS

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in the field of Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Management Technology, Watershed Sciences, Natural Resource Management, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years or more in stormwater management related to public works, construction, and inspection required.
  • Valid Driver's License at time of hire and Colorado Driver's License required within 60 days of hire.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two (2) years or more in public infrastructure inspection (e.g., storm drains, pavements, and utilities) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews stormwater management plans and issues stormwater permits.
  • Performs inspections of construction sites to verify adherence to stormwater permit requirements and regulations.
  • Travels independently to site locations to conduct inspections and reviews.
  • Ensures enforcement of regulations.
  • Responsible and accountable for cash handling, bookkeeping, accounting, and estimating.
  • Serves as a representative on behalf of the department at various public meetings and hearings.
  • Provides training and public outreach on stormwater management and illegal discharges.
  • Provides testimony during court proceedings and formal hearings as required.
  • Develops, updates, and amends computer databases.
  • Responds to public inquiries and grievances.
  • Encouraged to propose improvements to procedures that may boost efficiency, lower costs, and enhance safety.
  • Participates in meetings, classes, and trainings as needed or directed by the supervisor.
