About The Position

Apex Companies is seeking a dynamic Stormwater Inspector to join their growing team. The selected candidate will conduct stormwater management inspections at job site locations and prepare corresponding reports in accordance with the California State Water Resources Control Board, California Construction General Permit, and California Industrial General Permit and regional/local requirements. This role also involves providing seasonal water quality sampling, monitoring, and analysis at job site locations, serving as the Qualified SWPPP Practitioner Delegate on construction sites, and performing Industrial Site Inspections. Apex Companies is a rapidly growing AEC firm focused on employee development and impactful projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; college coursework or degree preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and typing/data entry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate project needs and updates to clients.
  • Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record and the ability to meet company insurance requirements.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds in order to conduct water sampling.
  • Involves extensive walking (1/2 mile or more) on uneven surfaces at construction sites; standing for long periods of time; sitting for extended periods of time while driving to and from job locations as required by jobs.
  • Extensive driving and travel throughout the region is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Asana or similar project management software is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Prior SWPPP inspection experience preferred.
  • Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP)
  • Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD)
  • Qualified Industrial Storm Water Practitioner (QISP)

Responsibilities

  • Drive to and from each job site in a route daily and conduct weekly and rain-event inspections, or other required inspections, as assigned.
  • Monitor weather forecasts daily in preparation for rain events.
  • Answer emails from contractors/co-workers in a timely manner.
  • Prepare annual reports for jobs when they are complete.
  • Update annual report data quarterly for each job.
  • Store reports, photos, and rain data in a neat manner for each job on the company’s shared server.
  • Sample storm water discharge for qualifying rain events on job sites.
  • Prepare inspection reports, sampling reports, and misc. reports.
  • Conduct water quality monitoring, sampling, and analysis on job sites.
  • Interact with clients.
  • Complete foundational training and site specific training as outlined for QSP Delegate Trainees by the California Stormwater Quality Association.
  • Attend classes and trainings to obtain required certifications.
  • Take necessary steps to gain CISEC and QSP certifications at the 2-year requirement, or prior based on previous experience as determined by authorized organization at time of hire.
  • Represent TCG in a positive and professional manner.
  • Regular, predictable, attendance, both onsite and in the field.
  • Other duties as assigned.
