About The Position

This role involves performing routine and post-storm inspections of UF’s Stormwater Infrastructure to ensure compliance with NPDES and MS4 permitting requirements. Responsibilities include documenting findings, providing educational guidance on best practices, collecting water samples for quality analysis, and assisting with permitting processes. The position also supports the maintenance of stormwater infrastructure by identifying deficiencies, performing minor repairs through manual labor, and assisting with the development of scopes of work for larger issues. Additionally, the role involves data collection and verification for digital tools like GIS and asset management software, and assisting in the identification of underground assets using specialized equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of relevant experience.
Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
FL Driver’s License is required.
Criminal Background Check required.
Post-Offer physical Assessment required.

Nice To Haves

One year experience in Stormwater inspection.
Valid Florida Stormwater 1 Inspector license.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and post-storm inspections of UF’s Stormwater Infrastructure including roadways, basins, ponds, outfalls, inlets, swales, trash traps, and conveyances.
Document findings via inspection reports, daily logs, emails, and photographs.
Report non-compliant conditions to the Storm Water System Manager.
Provide education and guidance to the campus community regarding erosion and sediment control, illicit discharges, and storm system Best Management Practices (BMPs).
Collect water samples from ponds, basins, and storm water conveyances to measure storm water quality and identify pollutant sources.
Assist in all aspects of permitting for relevant authorities.
Assist with onsite safety observation of trades, contractors, and engineers.
Identify deficiencies with storm water infrastructure.
Address minor deficiencies via manual labor (dewatering, weed trimming, shoveling, raking, trash removal, repair/replace signage).
Assist with development of scope of work for major deficiencies to be completed by other teams.
Assist with development and maintenance of utility system records.
Assist with data collection and verification for GIS, Aim, Storm System models, and other digital tools.
Work with computer software, accessing prints using AutoCAD, GIS, and asset management software.
Assist in locating existing underground assets and identifying newly discovered underground assets using GPR and line location tools.
