The Department of Environmental Services (DES) is hiring a Stormwater Infrastructure Program Manager for the Stormwater Infrastructure Team within the Office of Sustainability and Environmental Management (OSEM). The team leads planning, prioritization, operation, improvement, and maintenance of the County’s stormwater system, focusing on reducing flood risks to life, safety, and property and keeping the system in a state of good repair. The Program Manager plans, directs, and oversees the team’s programs and projects, working closely with the Water, Sewer, Streets Bureau, the Engineering Bureau, and the OSEM Watershed Programs Team. The ideal candidate has experience managing stormwater systems in built-out urban areas and understands intensifying rainfall patterns under a changing climate. They communicate effectively, motivate individuals and teams, build agreement on challenging issues, and work effectively in a multi-objective program and organization. This is a full-time position with a flexible Monday-through-Friday schedule between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Telework opportunities are available, subject to the current DES flexwork policy requiring at least 24 hours in the office each pay period. Work periodically requires attendance at public and field meetings, project sites, and other meetings outside normal working hours. Starting salary is commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. Applicants must submit a complete application, including a letter of interest, resume, and responses to supplemental questions. A pre-employment background check will include criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. The successful candidate must complete a Virginia Statement of Economic Interest form upon accepting employment and annually thereafter.
