About The Position

The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is seeking an experienced and collaborative Stormwater Construction Project Coordinator to support the engineering, planning, and construction coordination functions of the Stormwater Division. This position plays an important role in coordinating projects and programs that address community needs, strengthen stormwater infrastructure, protect properties from flood risk, and maintain regulatory compliance. The Water Resources Department provides essential services that protect public health, the environment, and Greensboro’s infrastructure. The Stormwater Division works to manage drainage and flood risks, maintain and improve critical infrastructure, support responsible development, and develop proactive solutions that protect the community and local waterways.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree OR an equivalency of a High School diploma with 6+ years of directly related experience.
  • 1-year of HS education with 8+ years of "directly" related experience.
  • 4-6 years of stormwater management experience (i.e., practices and their application by a wide variety of municipal water resources projects)
  • Experience/knowledge with Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to natural drainage systems, stormwater infrastructure, and stormwater collection systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Natural Resources, Environmental, or Engineering-related field
  • Knowledge of technology, practices, methods, equipment, and tools for constructing, maintaining, and rehabilitating Stormwater infrastructure/collection systems.
  • GIS experience
  • 2+ years of government experience

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate stormwater engineering, planning, and construction activities associated with Stormwater Division initiatives.
  • Support long-range and proactive planning for stormwater projects and programs.
  • Review and coordinate stormwater management plans and detailed stormwater studies.
  • Coordinate and support the prioritization of Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) to help ensure critical infrastructure is successfully implemented and constructed.
  • Serve as a liaison among internal City divisions and departments, design consultants, the development community, external stakeholders, and citizens.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders throughout the planning, design, and construction process to support successful project delivery.
  • Assist with proactive stormwater initiatives, including improvements to stormwater quantity control standards.
  • Support the review and revision of stormwater and floodplain ordinances designed to protect downstream properties from increased flood risk.
  • Assist with the review and revision of the Stormwater Utility Fee Credit Program.
  • Help identify, coordinate, and respond to emerging issues involving stormwater infrastructure.
  • Work collaboratively with various divisions, departments, and external partners to advance Stormwater Utility priorities.
  • Help ensure projects and programs meet community needs while maintaining applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provide coordination, communication, and follow-through to keep stormwater construction projects moving toward successful completion.
