About The Position

AccuWeather is seeking a full-time meteorologist to join its Storm Warning Meteorologist team at the Severe Weather Center in Wichita, Kansas. The role is part of a fast-paced environment focused on saving lives, protecting property, and helping clients maximize weather-related opportunities while reducing risks. The position involves forecasting hazardous weather, issuing customized warnings, and helping clients make immediate operational decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Sciences.
• Refined customer service skills.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Great attention to detail.
• Ability to process meteorological data and make swift, accurate warning decisions.
• Ability to interact and collaborate professionally with other members of the forecasting team.
• Willingness and ability to work semi-rotating shifts that include afternoons, evenings, overnights, weekends, and some holidays.

Responsibilities

• Create customized, site-specific hazardous weather warnings using internal warning software, independently of government agencies.
• Create hazardous weather forecast graphics and customized text discussions for transportation and other specialized clients across North America.
• Interact daily with clients who need to make immediate operational weather-related decisions.
• Use internal computer applications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
