About The Position

This role is responsible for demonstrating and directing a solid commitment to all aspects of safety, supporting the Leading with Safety program, and completing Field Verification Checklists. The Stores Supervisor is accountable for directing and coordinating warehousing and distribution activities across 6-10 service center locations. This position requires travel to multiple line shops weekly to check in with storekeepers and other departments, resolve material control system problems, interface with district stores, and ensure warehouse activities are performed according to process. The role involves monitoring employees, enforcing conformance to work practices, rules, and procedures, and ensuring adherence to proper accounting policies and procedures. It also includes implementing instructions and training for employees, coordinating work with various departments (Lines, Engineering, Work Management, Sub, Fleet, and Meter), and managing demand to forecast material needs and identify risks. The supervisor will monitor and document work habits in adherence to labor agreements, assist with materials layout and design at job sites, and monitor equipment utilization. A key aspect is understanding material utilization to identify solutions for material challenges and interfacing with customers regarding inventory management. The role may require managing a non-company warehouse during emergencies or peak periods, directing material inspections, storage, cycle counting, issuing, picking/packing, inventory accuracy, and housekeeping. Effective communication with internal and external customers is essential for maintaining sound business relationships. The position provides regional material support during emergency/storm situations, supporting the company storm process which may involve extended or irregular hours, and setting up/running staging sites for emergency restoration. This role provides regional materials on a 24/7 basis, travels to job sites for deliveries, material tracking, paperwork management, and oversees operations. Other projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree. In lieu of a degree, High School Diploma (or GED) along with a minimum of 4 years work experience.
  • Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of SAP, CREWS, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to comprehend the company's Accident Prevention Handbook and apply it to safety in the workplace.
  • Self starter who works well independently as well as in a team environment and can multi-task while prioritizing daily workload.
  • Ability to make timely decisions that utilize available material and resources in a cost effective manner.
  • Demonstrate proficiency at planning and scheduling work.
  • Ability to lead a team in order to achieve company business objectives and goals.
  • Tracking and maintaining accurate and proper paperwork.
  • Ability to work extra and irregular hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a leadership role or supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Experience in warehousing and materials management is a plus.
  • Knowledge of transmission and substation materials is a plus.
  • Ability to evaluate bill of materials and forecast material needs a plus.
  • Desire to continue to learn and grow, work across FirstEnergy, deliver results and supervise others.
  • Working knowledge of bargaining unit agreements and/or working with bargaining unit employees is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding of material and how it’s utilized to identify possible solutions to material challenges.
  • Interfacing with customers regarding inventory management.
  • May be required to manage a non-company warehouse if required for emergencies or other peaks.
  • Directing and overseeing material inspections, storage, cycle counting, issuing, picking/packing, inventory accuracy and general housekeeping.
  • Effectively communicate with customers, both internal and external, to ensure sound business relationships.
  • Providing regional material support during emergency/storm situations, along with supporting the company storm process which may require extended or irregular hours.
  • Set up and run a staging site to support emergency restoration which includes supporting internal and external resources and extended hours.
  • Providing regional materials on a 24/7 basis.
  • Travel to multiple job site locations to receive deliveries, track materials, manage paperwork and oversee operations.
  • Performing other projects and duties as assigned.
