About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Gulf Correctional Institution in the Warehouse Department. Our mission in the Warehouse is to efficiently manage the storage and distribution of supplies, as well as handle all incoming and outgoing mail for the correctional facilities. We aim to ensure that all operations run smoothly, supporting the overall functioning of the institution and meeting the needs of both staff and inmates. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must possess a high school diploma or it's equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Must possess five years of experience in clerical work, supplies management, transportation, or storekeeping.
• Must possess a college education from an institution that can substitute at the rate of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours for each year of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Process all incoming and outgoing inmate and institutional mail, ensuring no contraband slips through and adhering to strict mail rules and procedures, including handling legal and privileged mail.
• Deliver legal mail, maintaining meticulous logs, and acting as a notary when needed.
• Distribute institutional mail, prepare routine replies, update reports, and efficiently process inmate grievances.
• Provide essential clerical support for institutional operations, expertly handling court documents, and assisting with various mailroom-related tasks.
• Manage warehouse inventory with precision, process received goods, place property tags, and assist vendors and staff with routine questions.
