About the Indiana War Memorials Commission (WMC): The Indiana War Memorials Commission was created by the Legislature in 1923 with the mission of designing, building and subsequently operating the Indiana War Memorial Plaza Historic District. The Commission was also given the task of managing the Soldiers & Sailors Monument. Today the Commission is responsible for the Indiana War Memorial, the Soldiers & Sailors Monument, Veterans Memorial Plaza, American Legion Mall with the World War II, Korea and Vietnam Memorials, University Park, the USS Indianapolis National Memorial, the Medal of Honor Memorial, and the 9/11 Memorial. This position pays an hourly rate of $15.17.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of requisitioning and disbursing procedures, consumption rates of stored items and inventory control procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of stock items, their locations and the proper methods of storing a variety of goods and supplies based upon efficient space utilization and a variety of state and federal regulations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Practical knowledge of state regulations in handling and storing foodstuffs and perishables.
  • Ability to train inmates and staff in proper operation of all equipment and proper methods of storage.
  • Ability to maintain detailed, accurate inventory and purchasing records.
  • Ability to operate forklift, hand-truck and other mechanical equipment in warehouse.
  • Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • A degree is not required. However, experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Authorize the accuracy of all orders received in the storeroom and authorize all goods received.
  • Contact vendors regarding partial shipments and/or misorders.
  • Maintained detailed inventory records and records of items ordered.
  • Evaluate and recognize record-keeping or storage procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure proper storage procedures and rotation of stock for perishable items.
  • Make recommendations on purchase of new equipment for warehouse and maintenance required in building.
  • Oversee and assembles equipment received in “knocked down” condition.
  • May ensure the security of incarcerated individuals staff assigned to the warehouse.
