About The Position

The Stores Clerk supports hospital operations by receiving, organizing, tracking, and delivering inventory and non-inventory supplies throughout Rome Health and its offsite locations. This position maintains accurate inventory counts and supply levels, processes incoming and outgoing shipments and mail, and uses computerized inventory systems and handheld scanners. The Stores Clerk works collaboratively with hospital departments and vendors to ensure supplies are delivered accurately, safely, and on time.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in shipping, receiving, inventory management, warehouse operations, materials distribution, or a related field.
  • Valid New York State driver's license.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use inventory management software and handheld scanning devices.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and basic clerical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Effective interpersonal and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with employees, physicians, vendors, and other customers.
  • Availability to work early mornings and participate in a rotating weekend and holiday on-call schedule.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, count, document, and store inventory and non-inventory items.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, par levels, and supply counts using computerized systems, handheld scanners, and manual processes.
  • Pick, prepare, and deliver supplies and other items to hospital departments, patient care units, operating rooms, and offsite locations.
  • Process incoming and outgoing shipments and resolve or report damaged, missing, or incorrect items.
  • Operate mailroom functions, including processing outgoing postage and sorting and delivering incoming mail.
  • Safely operate pallet jacks, tow motors, hand carts, box cutters, scanning devices, and other materials-handling equipment.
  • Drive a motor vehicle to complete deliveries to offsite locations.
  • Prioritize scheduled deliveries, incoming shipments, and urgent departmental requests with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe storeroom, warehouse, mailroom, and work areas.
  • Follow hospital safety, infection-prevention, confidentiality, and departmental procedures.
  • Communicate professionally and work effectively with employees, physicians, administrators, vendors, and other customers.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and complete inventory, receiving, delivery, and mail records accurately and legibly.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and work early mornings and rotating weekend and holiday on-call assignments as scheduled.
