About The Position

This position assists the Warehouse Supervisor in maintaining an effective and efficient institutional warehouse operation. The role ensures an adequate inventory level of approved items in compliance with Department of Corrections (DOC) and institutional policy and procedure. Key responsibilities include ensuring all goods and materials are properly received, documented, stored, and/or distributed in compliance with all safety and sanitation requirements. The Storekeeper Senior also assists with maintaining a perpetual inventory system, conducting physical inventory of warehouse items, and ensuring the safety, security, and sanitation of the warehouse operation. Additionally, this role ensures all staff and inmate workers are properly trained, supervised, and monitored.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a Forklift and/or tractor.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of warehousing operations, procedures, shipping and receiving.
  • Capable of operating electric pallet jacks, reach trucks and forklifts.
  • Experience with Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA) compliance and handling hazardous materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and follow oral and written rules and regulations; to maintain harmonious working and public relations; to learn new practices, procedures, and equipment operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and complete work assignments with minimal guidance from others; to understand and apply operating procedures.
  • Forklift Operator Certification.
  • Training and/or experience in warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with data entry on automated inventory management systems.
