About The Position
The Salvation Army Midland Division Thrift Store in Sedalia, Missouri, is seeking a Store Worker to perform all functions of a thrift store. This includes customer service, lifting and carrying items, sorting and pricing clothes, operating a cash register, making change, reconciling the cash drawer, and making bank deposits. The majority of the work involves standard retail sales duties. Basic communication and math skills are required.
Requirements
- High school/equivalent diploma and one-year related work experience or two years work experience without diploma.
- Ability to comprehend written job description, cleaning instructions and material safety data sheet.
- Must be able to operate a cash register, make correct change for items sold and be bondable.
- Position requires basic communications with customers and other employees.
- Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision.
Responsibilities
- Interact with customers and other staff in a manner which promotes positive relationships.
- Sort donated items.
- Price donated items.
- Place donated items on racks/shelves for display.
- Assist in loading and unloading of the store’s truck, customers’ vehicles, and/or donors’ vehicles.
- Perform clerk/cashier activities.
- Perform store custodial duties as directed to include wash windows, dust, clean bathroom, sweep/vacuum/mop floors, carry out trash, etc.
- Help keep the showroom clean and neat at all times when the store is open.
