About The Position

Wegmans is seeking an independent, task-oriented Store Security Specialist to help keep customers and employees safe. The role serves as a link between the Asset Protection team and store leadership, builds relationships throughout the store, and keeps customer service a priority. The position is full-time at the Syracuse, New York location, pays $32.00 per hour, and requires availability for morning, afternoon, and evening shifts, including weekends. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Requirements

At least 1 year of full-time experience as a sworn police officer with arrest authority in a military, municipal, county, state, or federal police agency.
Valid license to carry a firearm.
Valid driver’s license.
Conflict management and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Sound judgment and the ability to manage conflict and communicate effectively under pressure.
Ability to maintain composure in stressful environments.
Strong technical aptitude, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field.
Related experience, including security and/or loss prevention.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or First Responder experience.
Leadership experience, preferably in a retail setting.

Responsibilities

Prioritize safety in the stores to create a positive shopping and working environment.
Analyze trends and data to implement strategies that maximize sales and minimize loss due to theft.
Monitor activity to prevent loss, including apprehending and processing shoplifters.
Build collaborative relationships with community partners and emergency responders.
Coordinate and manage the use of Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) systems.
Respond to emergency situations and provide ongoing support and guidance to employees and customers.
Conduct investigations as directed by leadership.
