About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a friendly, dependable Store Sales Associate I to help provide a positive shopping experience, support donation processing, and maintain an organized thrift store. The role involves customer service, register transactions, cash handling, merchandise replenishment, and keeping the store and work areas clean. Associates work collaboratively with team members and store management and support store productivity benchmarks and sales goals. The position is part-time in Overland Park, Kansas, pays $13.75 per hour, and requires flexible availability, including weekends and some holidays.

Requirements

High school diploma or currently pursuing one.
Basic computer and cash-handling skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift up to 100 pounds.
Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a store environment that may be dusty or subject to temperature changes.
Availability for flexible hours, including weekends and some holidays.

Retail, customer service, or cashiering experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service and represent The Salvation Army’s mission and values.
Greet donors and shoppers and assist with register transactions.
Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system and accurately handle cash transactions.
Open, close, and balance cash drawers according to The Salvation Army’s cash-handling policies.
Maintain a clean, organized store by restocking, straightening racks, and cleaning work areas.
Ensure merchandise is properly displayed and regularly replenished.
Follow policies regarding the sale of donated goods.
Collaborate with team members and store management.
Support store productivity benchmarks and contribute to sales goals.
Be available for flexible scheduling, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
