About The Position

Based in Chesapeake, VA, Family Dollar operates more than 7,000 stores across the 48 contiguous states, supported by a coast-to-coast logistics network and more than 80,000 Associates. In this role, you will help develop and implement comprehensive safety and health policies and procedures for Company retail stores. The role closely partners with Store Operations to further the safety and health program at Company stores. Based in Chesapeake, VA. This position reports to the Manager, Store Safety.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years’ experience in Asset Protection;, Environmental, Health and Safety; or retail operations.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination education and experience.
  • Strong people skills; the ability to quickly develop relationships and communicate with multiple internal and external business partners.
  • Detail-oriented and coordination of multiple priorities in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule.
  • Travel approximately up to 25%

  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and industry best practices related to health and safety compliance.
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Professional certifications, such as GSP, ASP, CSP and/or ARM

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development/updating of safety and health programs for retail store operations.
  • Assist in the development/updating of safety and health training documentation for retail store operations.
  • Directly communicate with OSHA, government inspectors, and regulators regarding the Company’s safety and health programs.
  • Stay current and informed regarding trends in OSHA enforcement to serve as the Company’s subject matter expert as it relates to occupational safety and health.
  • Assist with the response to all OSHA citations, inspections, or investigations.
  • Develop and monitor safety and health Key Performance Indicators to ensure proper execution of policies and procedures.
  • Provide support on store requests for safety and health assistance.
  • Partner with retail store operations in conducting training and auditing programs concerning store safety and health.
  • Assist with special projects that impact the success of the Company’s safety and health programs.
  • Monitor internal safety reporting and perform audits of stores.
  • Use of stores CCTV for audits and follow-up
  • Support compliance with special projects
