About The Position
The Store/Night Clerk provides exceptional customer service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. The role assists the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals and monitoring quality assurance standards. The clerk supports the Customer 1st strategy, encourages excellent service from associates, and demonstrates the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Requirements
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
- Effective communication skills.

- A second language, including speaking, reading, and/or writing.
Responsibilities
- Promote trust and respect among associates.
- Help customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
- Maintain knowledge of department products and answer customer questions or make product suggestions.
- Recommend grocery items and inform customers about grocery specials.
- Check product freshness and sell-by dates, taking appropriate action when needed.
- Label, stock, and inventory merchandise, and provide customers with fresh products they ordered.
- Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Stay current on present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
- Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain appropriate temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
- Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
- Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance needs and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Report safety risks or issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
- Perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
