About The Position

The Store Manager-in-Training (MIT) serves as a flexible leader who provides management coverage and operational support across multiple store locations. This position is responsible for leading the team, driving sales and efficiency, providing excellent customer service, as well as ensuring safety, compliance, and profitability. The Manager-in-Training steps into any assigned store as needed to fill in for store managers on leave, during vacancies, or for special projects. This is a salary-exempt position that reports to the District Manager on the maintenance and operation of the company-owned retail facility. Requirements

  • Experience in sales or retail management required, preferably in a convenience store.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and adequate transportation (required at time of hire).
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team and improve employee performance, providing support and training as needed.
  • Ability to communicate orally and verbally in English.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service, demonstrated for the team.
  • Ability to develop and maintain knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Ability to perform basic computer functions and produce accurate reports.
  • Ability to manage cash and inventory.
  • Understanding of break-even cents per gallon and drivers of performance.
  • Strong merchandising skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of store operations and company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee, or share supervision of a team of 10-15, consisting of Customer Service Representatives and Assistant Managers.
  • Provide management coverage for store locations as assigned by the District Manager.
  • Travel between assigned stores with flexibility to adjust to changing schedules and priorities.
  • Perform environmental and safety audits in compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Manage and analyze sales data and expenses to optimize profitability.
  • Provide timely product surveys and other reports or financial analysis.
  • Maintain staffing levels in accordance with the needs of the business in order to deliver exemplary customer service and provide adequate shift coverage.
  • Prepare performance reviews for all employees, providing feedback to the District Manager.
  • Adhere to payroll deadlines, maintain employee records and timesheets, enforces attendance.
  • Provide coaching to the team, especially to Assistant Managers to promote growth from within the company.
  • Build supportive and professional relationships with employees, vendors, and service providers alike.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, ensure cleanliness of the store and maintain inventory levels.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supervise daily operations including cash handling, inventory control, merchandising, and loss prevention.
  • Account for all money received and disbursed and follow all banking requirements.
  • Performs additional duties assigned by the District Manager.
  • Uphold the image standards of the company and 7-Eleven brand within the community.
  • Ensure compliance with any and all policies and regulations, especially new hire paperwork and employment posters.
