About The Position

Manages a store engaged in selling discount building materials by performing the following duties: Operate as a “Working Manager.” A Working Manager is an individual that gets involved in the daily activities and performs any job duties necessary to keep the store operating at maximum efficiency. Responsible for effectively training all partners at Home Outlet location in order to maximize profitability, control costs, and offer the best possible customer service. Responsible for interviewing and hiring the best candidates to properly staff the store and help ensure the continued integrity and excellence of our Home Outlet division. Continually exceed high levels of profitability and customer service while making certain the store is following all safety regulations, guidelines, and operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of Inventory software; Order processing systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Responsibilities

  • Operate as a “Working Manager,” performing any job duties necessary to keep the store operating at maximum efficiency.
  • Effectively train all partners at the Home Outlet location to maximize profitability, control costs, and offer the best possible customer service.
  • Interview and hire the best candidates to properly staff the store and ensure the integrity and excellence of the Home Outlet division.
  • Exceed high levels of profitability and customer service while ensuring the store follows all safety regulations, guidelines, and operating procedures.
  • Plan and prepare work schedules and assign employees to specific duties.
  • Coordinate, participate in, and supervise sales activity and sales promotion, merchandise display preparation and advertising, and taking inventories.
  • Reconcile cash with sales receipts, keep operating records, prepare daily records of transactions for the Accounting Department, and perform work of other partners, as needed.
  • Ensure compliance of employees with established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures and practices.
  • Resolve customer complaints and answer inquiries.
  • Lock and secure the store.
  • Supervise 3-5 employees in the Home Outlet Store, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Conduct interviewing, hiring, and training of employees.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
