About The Position

The Store Manager is responsible for managing all employees and effectively planning and implementing store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. The role oversees store operations, employee performance, customer service, inventory, merchandising, cash controls, safety, and compliance with company policies and procedures. The Store Manager helps ensure the store is properly staffed and effectively opened and closed each day, personally opening at least twice and closing at least twice per week. The role involves frequent walking or standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling; handling merchandise and equipment; lifting up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 55 pounds occasionally; and occasional exposure to outdoor weather, cleaning solutions, and freezer cold. The environment is fast-paced with moderate noise. Occasional ladder climbing up to six feet and regular driving of a personal vehicle for meetings, visits to other stores, and deposits are also required.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
Ability to perform cash register functions to generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices, including deposits and store keys.

Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees in accordance with labor laws and company policies, ensuring the store is properly staffed.
Train employees, conduct performance evaluations, identify performance gaps, and provide solutions or counseling up to and including termination.
Make recommendations regarding employee pay rates and advancement.
Communicate performance, conduct, and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events that encourage safety, security, and policy compliance.
Ensure the store is adequately staffed and opened and closed effectively each day; open at least two times per week and close at least two times per week.
Review operating statements to identify business trends, including sales, profitability, and inventory turn, as well as expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Order merchandise to meet or exceed in-stock targets; review ordering plans, seasonal direction, and inventory management weekly; and follow up on Basic Stock Replenishment and cycle counts.
Facilitate efficient staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise according to company work processes.
Ensure merchandise presentation follows established practices, including proper use of fixtures, pricing, and signage.
Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
Protect the store’s financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash-control procedures.
Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
Maintain a clean, organized store and a safe and secure working and shopping environment.
Ensure the store has the tools needed to perform required tasks.
Follow company policies and procedures and ensure employee compliance.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
