About The Position

Stew Leonard’s, a family-owned and operated fresh food store founded in 1969, has locations in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. Stew’s earned its nickname, the “Disneyland of Dairy Stores” because of its country-fair atmosphere, with costumed characters and animated entertainment throughout the store that keep children entertained while parents shop. This Full Time Hourly position requires the candidate to provide a clean and eye-appealing environment for the customer shopping experience. The Store Manager must maintain positive relations with all customers and resolve any product or service dissatisfaction issues promptly and professionally. They will ensure proper service levels around the store and shift labor as needed. The role oversees the activities of the Building Services department within a single retail location and maintains a professional relationship with in-house, local and state health/sanitation inspectors.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years and older
  • HS Diploma plus 2 – 5 years experience
  • Qualified Food Operator (QFO)
  • Knowledge of corresponding local and state health/sanitation codes
  • Sound computer skills and competence with in-house systems such as labor scheduling
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Sound decision making and analytical skills
  • Interpersonal and managerial skills
  • Ability to lead, work and function within a team environment
  • Positive attitude and the ability to supervise and motivate your team to success
  • Flexible in work schedule, including closing shifts
  • Excellent follow-up skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assure adherence to internal and external sanitation standards via inspection-based auditing and active cooperation with the Chief Food Safety Officer.
  • Ensure proper signage, full displays, and rotation of all products.
  • Assist customers with questions and/or complaints.
  • Supervise Building Services team, including daily assignment of responsibilities, performance reviews, labor scheduling, etc.
  • Provide assistance to the store for all physical inventories.
  • Facilitate 4 o’clock huddles daily.
  • Greet customers with a friendly smile and positive attitude, ensuring that each customer feels welcome and appreciated.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth operation of the store, offering assistance and support where needed.
  • Improve and maintain the efficiency of the store in order to reach success.
  • Be a positive ambassador for the store, representing our S.T.E.W. values in all interactions with customers and team members.
