About The Position

The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the store, including managing center store departments (Grocery, Frozen, Dairy, General Merchandise), ensuring efficient ordering and stocking processes, maintaining merchandising standards, and supervising store staff. This role also involves managing CGO (Customer Generated Orders) processes, contributing to bonus calculations based on store condition and team member engagement, and ensuring overall store profitability and guest service. The Store Manager must foster a positive team environment, adhere to company policies, promote safety, and develop team members through training and coaching.

Requirements

  • Certification required for operation of forklift and/or pallet jack.
  • City, county, state, and/or federal certifications may be required including food handlers permit.
  • Ability to write, speak, hear, and understand the spoken word to respond promptly to pages, requests, team members and guests.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Excel, Word, Google Sheets and Docs etc. required.
  • Required to use or operate pallet jack, forklift, box cutters, ordering machine, computer, two-wheeler, etc.
  • Must have previous retail management experience.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Basic math skills using units of money, weight, measurement, volume addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages required.
  • An understanding of gross projections, transmittals, weekly summaries, invoices, transfers, labor goals, inventory, and other paperwork as assigned by store management is required.
  • 18 years of age minimum.
  • 21 years of age required to sell tobacco products and/or alcohol.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form or when helping resolve a team member or guest concern.

Responsibilities

  • Writes or supervises and directs orders for Grocery/Frozen/Dairy/GM departments.
  • Ensures execution of sales messages, execution lists, and tackle for all center store departments.
  • Coaches the team on basic merchandising fundamentals, including stocking, rotation, receiving, damage control, space management, signage, facing, and backroom organization.
  • Writes weekly schedules and conducts weekly department head meetings.
  • Responsible for safe, cash, and bookkeeping.
  • Ensures the CGO process is fully functioning and supports other departments in their CGO processes.
  • Participates in open communication with team members, promotes high morale and teamwork.
  • Shares and accepts ideas for store profitability and guest service, solicits guest feedback.
  • Continually strives to build knowledge and skills through training and education.
  • Complies with all company policies, programs, directives, and procedures.
  • Promotes a harassment-free environment and reports potential concerns to the Store Director and Human Resources.
  • Ensures proper orientation and training of all team members, including new hire paperwork and personnel file documentation.
  • Maintains knowledge of company safety and accident prevention policies, and is responsible for accident reporting and documentation.
  • Maintains adherence to team members' appearance and dress code, and communicates the importance of cleanliness.
  • Aids in the development and growth of all store team members through coaching, training, evaluation, and counseling.
  • Ensures timely and effective completion of team member evaluations.
  • Maintains good order and productivity through appropriate discipline and documentation.
  • Maintains coordination and communication with all departments for a smooth flow of products and service.
  • Responsible for maximizing department sales and profits, and ensuring proper merchandising, cross-merchandising, and pricing.
  • Practices self-development to assume additional duties and responsibilities.
  • Assures adequate and appropriate records for store operations.
  • Coaches executive, management, and supervisory staff on establishing and maintaining appropriate team member schedules.
  • Implements all facets of company philosophy, policy, budget requirements, reports, and other programs for effective store operation.
  • Maintains effective control of inventories and controls waste and pilferage.
  • Assists with ensuring store equipment is in good working order and recommends repair or purchase.
  • Conducts weekly management, departmental, store, and company meetings.
